Recommended Renewal

Recommendations for renewal will be submitted through the Educator Information System (EIS) by the employer. Your employer must have a NHED approved Professional Development Master Plan for you to receive a recommended renewal.

A new course, NHED Educator License Renewal , is now available on the NHED Canvas portal.  The course is open, self-paced, and designed to assist educators with submitting professional development to renew a license.  Both Recommended Renewals and DOE Renewals are covered, along with submission guidelines.  No login is required.

Types of credentials that can be renewed

  • Beginning Educator, Experienced Educator, School Nurse, Paraeducator and Educational Interpreter/Transliterator

  • Intern Authorizations cannot be renewed through a recommended renewal. For more information regarding Intern Authorizations, please review Site-Based Licensing Plan information.

Experienced Educator Upgrade

  • Employers authorized to recommend for renewal under a NHED approved PDMP are also able to recommend educators for an Experienced Educator License (EEL) at the time of renewal.

  • Ed 504.02 Experienced Educator License

    • at least 3 years of full-time experience as an educator at the elementary through secondary levels of education

    • being deemed effective or above according to the local evaluation system for 2 consecutive years

    • successfully completing a renewal cycle

  • Applicants will see a yellow banner on the myNHDOE/EIS/Educator/View Your Credentials page indicating a recommendation has been made for EEL, however when applying, the applicant will see that they are still applying to renew the Beginning Educator License (BEL). The applicant will not see the EEL in EIS until after application/payment is made.

Paraeducators

Not all employers with Professional Development Master Plans include licensed paraeducators under the plan, or include licensed educators working as paraeducators or other non-credentialed roles under the plan. Please be sure to check with your employer to find out if you will be recommended for renewal, or if you should renew directly with the NHED (our office is unable to determine this for you).

Expired Licenses

All expired licenses must be renewed through the DOE Renewal process.

Recommended Renewal Instructions:

Educator, School Nurse, Educational Interpreter/Transliterator and Paraeducator

  • Employers are able to recommend renewals after January 1st of the expiration year. Follow your employer’s instructions to submit your professional development to your employer.

  • Once your professional development is approved, your employer will submit a renewal recommendation through EIS and you will receive an automatic email from the system informing you that your renewal has been recommended.

    • Please be sure to keep the emails in your myNHDOE/EIS account profile updated.

    • Be sure to check your spam/junk email box if you are expecting your email and can’t find it.

    • If you did not receive an email notifying you that your recommendation for renewal is complete, but your employer has notified you that the recommendation has been submitted, please continue with the instructions.

  • There is an additional $50.00 late fee required for BEL/EEL renewals completed online or postmarked after 6/30 of the expiration year.

  • If you do not see “Renew Your Credentials Here”, please confirm with your employer that you have been recommended for renewal.

    • Please note: A yellow banner does NOT necessarily mean you have been recommended for renewal for this renewal cycle. This banner may be left over from a previous cycle when your license was upgraded from a Beginning Educator to an Experienced Educator.

  • If you see “Renew Your Credentials Here”, please click the link.

  • If you notice any endorsements are missing from the list that you do not intend to let lapse, please contact your employer to complete the recommendation process for all endorsements before applying.

  • If your employer has recommended you for an Experienced Educator License, you will see a yellow banner on the myNHDOE/EIS/Educator/View Your Credentials page indicating a recommendation has been made for EEL, however when applying, you will see that you are still applying to renew the Beginning Educator License (BEL). You will not see the EEL in EIS until after application/payment is made.

  • If all the information listed looks correct, click the Renew link.

  • You will confirm your profile information, respond to conduct/ethics acknowledgements and submit payment.

  • Our system only accepts Visa/MasterCard.

  • There is a time limit for completing the payment wizard. Please have your payment card ready. If you time out or cancel the wizard, your updated profile information and application will not be saved and you must wait 24 hours from first attempt to try again.

  • Once your renewal is issued, you will receive an email with a PDF attachment of your renewed license. This PDF will also be available in your myNHDOE/EIS/Educator/View Your Credentials/Documents.
