Recommended Renewal

Recommended Renewal

Recommendations for renewal will be submitted through the Educator Information System (EIS) by the employer. Your employer must have a NHED approved Professional Development Master Plan for you to receive a recommended renewal.

A new course, NHED Educator License Renewal , is now available on the NHED Canvas portal.  The course is open, self-paced, and designed to assist educators with submitting professional development to renew a license.  Both Recommended Renewals and DOE Renewals are covered, along with submission guidelines.  No login is required.

Types of credentials that can be renewed

  • Beginning Educator, Experienced Educator, School Nurse, Paraeducator and Educational Interpreter/Transliterator

  • Intern Authorizations cannot be renewed through a recommended renewal. For more information regarding Intern Authorizations, please review Site-Based Licensing Plan information.

Experienced Educator Upgrade

  • Employers authorized to recommend for renewal under a NHED approved PDMP are also able to recommend educators for an Experienced Educator License (EEL) at the time of renewal.

  • Ed 504.02 Experienced Educator License

    • at least 3 years of full-time experience as an educator at the elementary through secondary levels of education

    • being deemed effective or above according to the local evaluation system for 2 consecutive years

    • successfully completing a renewal cycle

  • Applicants will see a yellow banner on the myNHDOE/EIS/Educator/View Your Credentials page indicating a recommendation has been made for EEL, however when applying, the applicant will see that they are still applying to renew the Beginning Educator License (BEL). The applicant will not see the EEL in EIS until after application/payment is made.

Contracted service providers

Long-term substitutes

Licensed educators not working in credentialed roles

Not all employers with Professional Development Master Plans include contracted service providers, long-term substitutes or licensed educators not working in credentialed roles under the plan. Please be sure to check with your employer to find out if you will be recommended for renewal, or if you should renew directly with the NHED (our office is unable to determine this for you).

Expired Licenses

All expired licenses must be renewed through the DOE Renewal process.
