Science 5-9 (amended endorsement)
Information for those educators previously issued Middle Level Science 5-9. In January 2014, the State Board changed the endorsement from Middle Level Science 5-9 to Middle Level Science 5-8. This endorsement is currently named Science 5-8.
Transition Process from Middle Level Science 5-9
Previous state
It recently came to our attention that our Educator Information System allowed educators to renew the old Middle Level Science 5-9 endorsement. This should not have been possible, and we have since corrected the issue.
Current state
If you most recently have an active (non-expired) Middle Level Science 5-9 endorsement, we:
have changed the endorsement on your license to Science 5-8.
will be adding the Physical Science (7-12) endorsement. Please note, that you are not required to renew the Physical Science endorsement if you do not want it.
If you most recently have an inactive (expired) Middle Level Science 5-9 endorsement, and your endorsement expired:
prior to January 2014:
you may renew the endorsement (Science 5-8)
after January 2014:
you may renew the endorsement (Science 5-8)
you may request we add the Physical Science (7-12) endorsement. Please submit your request through our Help Desk.
