DOE Renewal Application Instructions

This process will include accessing your account, entering your completed professional development, your professional development goals for the next 3 years, and online payment.

A new course, NHED Educator License Renewal , is now available on the NHED Canvas portal.  The course is open, self-paced, and designed to assist educators with submitting professional development to renew a license.  Both Recommended Renewals and DOE Renewals are covered, along with submission guidelines.  No login is required.

Enter your Professional Development into EIS

From your EIS/Educator Welcome page:

Do not use these links to renew as a DOE Renewal:

  • If you click on your EIS/Educator role, but do not see the link on your Welcome page to “Manage Your Professional Development” and you have a current hire date under Assignments, the link to Manage Your Professional Development has been removed from your Welcome page and will no longer be available to you.

  • If you have a current hire date under Assignments, either an expired license, or a current license but are not employed under a Professional Development Master Plan, you will need to apply via paper/check as a DOE Renewal. If you had already entered professional development into EIS before your hire date was entered, we can provide a screenshot of the professional development you already entered. You can request this by submitting a Help Desk request.

  • If you have a current hire date under Assignments, a current license and your employer has a Professional Development Master Plan under which you are employed, you must submit a Recommended Renewal.

  • The table above will show you how many CEU’s (hours) you still need to enter for your certificate/license and for your endorsements before you can apply. 1 CEU = 1 hour.

  • Examples of Acceptable Professional Growth Activities

  • There is no limit on the number of hours you can utilize for any one activity type.

  • CEU’s are entered on the bottom table, using the “Click Here to Add a CEU” link.

  • Only when the CEU’s Remaining for All Credentials column shows “0” will the Apply link be activated.

  • Once you have entered the appropriate hours for your certificate (BEL/EEL), use the down arrow to select endorsements to apply professional development CEU’s. (Educator licenses only - this does not apply to School Nurses, Educational Interpreter/Transliterator or Paraeducator licenses).

  • Once the “CEU’s Remaining for All Credentials” shows “0”, follow the directions below to submit the application and begin the eight step application/payment wizard.

  • You do not need to supply any verifying documentation of professional development unless your receive an email that your application has been selected for an audit.

  • To drop an endorsement from your next license, do not enter any professional development for that endorsement. The system should allow you to apply as long as you have at least one endorsement to renew with 30 hours of professional development applied to it.

  • To add an endorsement back on to your license that you have previously dropped from your license, you will need to apply via paper/check as a DOE Renewal. The system will not allow you to add an endorsement online.

  • Only when the CEU’s Remaining for All Credentials column shows “0” will the Apply link be activated.
